This study showed that irradiation has a marked influence on the amount of vitamin E in the skin and that a reduction is clearly seen after the skin was subjected to UVA and UVB rays - and from that we can conclude that sunlight destroys vitamin E in the skin.

This study looked at the destruction of various antioxidants, when subjected to full solar UV spectrum (UVA and UVB, 280-400 nm) and a linear decrease in alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E) occurred at approximately 1.7 pmol tocopherol/cm2 surface were destroyed per J/cm2 UV-light.
