This specialized cosmetic ingredient is made from protoberberines, obtained from the extract of the Enantia chlorantha tree, and oleanic acid - derived from the olive tree.
Excess sebum on the skin is normally present in people suffering from a problem skin with pimples and acne, and reducing the excessive oil production then positively impacts on sorting out pimples and acne. The sebum flow is influenced by testosterone in both males and females and is controlled by the 5a reductase process - which is specifically influenced by the oleanic acid.
Hyperkeratinization is also a problem experienced in acne and pimple skin - and it refers to the fact that skin cells do not shed normally, which leads to a build-up of skin cells on the surface, which helps create the breeding ground for pimples and acne. The protoberberines in the Enantia chlorantha extract helps solve this particular problem.
In the clinical trials 22 panelists were used and results showed a reduction of 21.7% in shiny skin.

Evaluation of the number of active oil glands and the rate of sebum flow was measured by Sebutape® and 18 panelists were used. This test showed an average decrease of 32% in the flow of sebum.
